Elizabeth Cherry Davis, 93, Peachtree City and Newnan, died Oct. 18, 2006. She was born Oct. 15, 1913 in Estill Springs, Tenn. She spent a large part of her life with her husband, Jack, in Birmingham, Ala. She was a prolific reader, a exceptional bridge player, a crossword aficionado, and could discuss a wide variety of subjects. She had held a number of successful business positions in Birmingham. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church South. Services were at the Carmichael-Hemperley chapel with interment at Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham, Ala. Survivors include a son, Jim and Evelyn Davis, Newnan; a daughter, Judy and Tom Turnipseed, Columbia, S. C.; grandchildren, Dodd Davis, Greenville, S.C., and Paige Mathis, Chattanooga, Tenn., Jeff Turnipseed, Columbia, S. C., Jeny Mathis, Atlanta, and Matt West and Melisse Fethertson, both of Sharpsburg, a nephew, Mike Powers, Savannah; a niece, Libby and Tommy Blair,Chattanooga, Tenn.; and 15 great-grandchildren. Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge. login to post comments |
