Meet the LLWS champions in PTC, Nov. 4

The 2006 Little League World Series Champions, Columbus Northern Little League, will be in Peachtree City November 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center. The 2005 World Series Peachtree City Challenger All Stars will also be present to act as ambassadors and greeters for the event.

The event will be one of the highlights of the Georgia Little League Leadership Conference being held at the Wyndham. The public is invited to meet and congratulate this exceptional group of players and coaches at an informal reception held in the Bistro 54 Club at the Wyndham.

The Northern Little League team from Columbus began their Road to the World Series by winning their District Tournament in Columbus in early-July. They advanced to the Georgia State Tournament in Augusta in mid-July where they went undefeated in 6 games, giving up only 6 runs in the state tournament. At the Southeast Regional Tournament in St. Petersburg August 5 - 11, they were again undefeated, giving up 6 runs to the Florida team in pool play, but shutting out the Florida team in the Championship Game 5 - 0.

At the World Series in Williamsport, PA, August 18 - 28, the team faced regional champions from across the U.S. They went 2 – 1 in pool play during the World Series, losing to the Lemont, Illinois, team from the Great Lakes Region. They defeated the Portsmouth, New Hampshire team from the New England Region 8 – 0 to win the U.S. World Series Championship.

Their World Series Championship game was postponed 1 day due to rain, but they defeated their International competition, Kawaguchi Little League from Japan and the Asian Region 2 – 1 to become the 2006 Little League World Series Champions.
