Katy, played by Alison Lohman, is a girl who loves horses so much that she thinks about them at school. When she is supposed to be writing an essay, she is daydreaming about horses and turns in a blank sheet of paper! That night at dinner, her dad, Rob (Tim McGraw) and her mom Nell (Maria Bello) tell her and her older brother Howard how much the family goes through so she can have a private education. Then Katy finds a beautiful young mustang that she tries to capture, but instead it gets away and Katy runs into a mountain lion that the mustang saves her from.

The next morning, the family receives a fax from the school that Katy turned in a blank paper and her dad is not very happy about that. He tells Katy that she cannot talk about horses or keeping the mustang until she writes the essay. Then she sees the mustang again. She chases it all the way back to her house and the horse almost runs the entire herd off a cliff. The dad ropes up the mustang and tells everyone that the horse should never be ridden and nobody goes into the pen without his permission. Katy still sneaks into the pen in an attempt to train the horse.

Will Katy train the mustang? Will she finish the essay? Will Howard go to college and let Katy run the ranch one day? Will the mountain lion come back? Will the dad lighten up?

One thing I liked about this movie was the scenery. Another thing I liked about this movie was… the mom was ALIVE! One thing I didn’t like was that everyone was afraid of the dad, although my mom said he was just worried about his kids and saving the ranch.

Rated PG for some mild language. No really bad words in this movie, just regular bad words that I will not say. I rate it PG for Pretty Girly.
