• Peachtree City resident Jack Berry, 12 ,was selected to the Travel Ball Select 2006 All- American baseball team. Berry was awarded the honor based on his tremendous accomplishments on and off the field. He was a top performer on the East Cobb Astros: One of the most respected travel baseball organizations in the country. Berry was a catcher/pitcher and has been described as “one of the best in Georgia, He displays tremendous versatility and range with a cannon arm.”

• Several local golfers played well in the Georgia Vets Junior Classic. Fayetteville’s Jessica Porch played seventh in the girls division with a 178 over two rounds. Peachtree City’s Josh Moore placed 29th in the boys division with a 159 over two rounds.

• Starr’s Mill graduate Kelley O’Hara, now a freshman at Stanford University, was recently named the Pacific-10 Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week.

O’Hara scored two goals and recorded one assist in a 3-2 win against Arizona State and a 3-0 win against the University of Arizona.
O’Hara has 11 points for the team, She ranks fourth in the Pac-10 in goals per game (.45), and her five goals this season is sixth best in the conference.

• Junior Rebecca Timmis had a strong fall season for the Washington and Lee women’s tennis team. Timmis, a McIntosh graduate, finished with a 4-1 record in singles and 6-3 record in doubles.At the Virginia Tech Fall Invitational on Oct. 8, Timmis won the championship of the D singles flight. For her career, She is a W&L and ODAC Scholar-Athlete.
