Kedron Elementary kicked off autumn recently with its third annual Fall Festival held for students and their families. Even the chill in the air couldn’t keep away the estimated 280 families from the bounty of activities. “This event really brings about school spirit and a sense of community at the beginning of the year,” said co-chairman Ellen Siegel. “We could not accommodate this fantastic turnout without all of the parental support.” The festival featured pony rides, gymnastics, face painting, balloon sculpting, and a plethora of inflatables including bouncers, a giant rock climbing wall, an obstacle course, a super slide and the swirling G-Force ride. Students, parents and teachers alike enjoyed partaking in hula hoop and dancing activities. “Kedron’s students work very hard during the week as seen by test scores and our most recent platinum award,” said event co-chairman Kim Haldopoulos. “We want these kids to have a chance to break free and enjoy themselves. This is the perfect event for them to have fun.” A highlight of the evening was the piggy race and the “kiss the pig” contest. After enjoying pizza, cotton candy, and popcorn, students sat glued to the stage to watch the pig kissing contest. The third time proved to be the charm for Kedron’s principal Karen Bullock as she finally planted a big one on Dally Ringer. The success of the festival was due in large part to the parental volunteers, Booth Middle and McIntosh High beta club members and local sponsors.
