Adele Handy, a third-year honor student in biology and psychology at the University of Georgia, has been selected for the Leadership UGA program. The Peachtree City, Ga. student was one of 40 students chosen to participate in the program from among several hundred nominees.

Handy is a 2004 graduate of McIntosh High School and is the daughter of Douglas and Deborah Handy of Peachtree City. She is the community chair of Alpha Epsilon Delta (a pre-med honor society). Handy is also a Foundation Fellow and is a summer research fellow with UGA’s Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities.

Leadership UGA is designed to give outstanding students an opportunity to network, to develop their leadership skills, to meet leaders from throughout the state, and to become more aware of issues facing the state and the nation. The program is modeled on Leadership Georgia, a similar program for leadership development at the state level.
