A Peachtree City man was killed Friday evening in a four-vehicle auto crash at the intersection of Ga. Highway 74 and Senoia Road across from an entrance to Kedron Village, police said.

James E. Whalen, 80, of 130 Treillage Lane, suffered serious injuries in the collision and was later pronounced dead at Fayette Community Hospital, police said.

The crash was reported just after 6:30 p.m., and police are performing a comprehensive reconstruction of the collision.

According to the preliminary accident report, Whalen was driving his 1989 Toyota Camry north on Hwy. 74 when he turned left, pulling in front of a 2002 Honda Accord that was traveling south on Hwy. 74, driven by Stephanie M. Hardwick of Peachtree City. The preliminary indication is that Whalen failed to yield to Hardwick’s vehicle, the report stated.

Whalen’s vehicle struck a third vehicle, and a fourth vehicle rear-ended Hardwick’s vehicle, the report indicated.
