DAR marks patriot grave

The Augustin Clayton Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution held a grave marking ceremony recently at Veal Cemetery in Washington County, Ga.

The Revolutionary War Patriot honored was Nathan Veal, Sr. who fought in Virginia and then relocated to Washington County, Ga., where many of his descendants still reside.

Joining the Augustin Clayton Chapter were representatives from several DAR chapters, the Marquis de Lafayette Chapter Sons of the American Revolution of Fayetteville, the Button Gwinnett Chapter Children of the American Revolution and other SAR chapters.

The Georgia State Society Sons of the American Revolution provided an honor guard as well as a musket salute.
