Peachtree City’s Best Buy store just might be open by this weekend.

City Building Official Tom Carty said Monday that a final inspection for the store has been scheduled for Friday. The store has been allowed to move in its stock while it works on the remaining “punch list” of minor issues, Carty said.

The store, at just under 30,000 square feet, is located along Ga. Highway 54 just west of the CSX railroad bridge. It joins the nearby Wal-Mart and Home Depot as the major large-scale retail stores in the area.

The store will be roughly a third of the size of the Best Buy in the Fayette Pavilion.

The Peachtree City Planning Commission approved Best Buy’s landscape plan at its meeting Monday night. There are landscaped islands along two sides of the building, and trees that couldn’t be put on the store’s site itself will be moved to along Hwy. 54, said City Planner David Rast.

The store is located adjacent to the cemetery for the former Line Creek Baptist Church, which was built in 1875. The landscaping for the cemetery is not yet complete, said Jim Lowe of LAI Engineering.
