An employee of the Peachtree City Recreation Department has earned an award as one of the top administrative staffers in the state.

Joyce Williams won the award for her “can-do” attitude, efficiency, knowledge of programs and procedures and for helping other co-workers with their projects and events, according to a statement released by the city.

Williams is one of the “faces” that greet patrons at the department offices, handling the front desk.

“We are very proud that Joyce Williams was recognized for her work here,” said Sherry McHugh, recreation administrator. “Our staff is very aware of the value Joyce brings to our office. It was nice for her to be recognized throughout our district and state as a prime example of how important our support staff personnel are to our operations.”

The department’s volunteer recruitment program was also given a state award for the most innovative program. TEAM PTC (Together Efforts Are Magnified), is in its third year and was designed and implemented by Carolyn Stanton, manager of leisure programs.

“TEAM PTC has become a useful tool for our department when planning special events,” McHugh said. “Our volunteers seem to enjoy helping out too. I know Carolyn is working on starting a teen version called TEEN TEAM PTC to give middle and high school students the chance to volunteer to help plan and implement special events important to them.”
