The Knights of Columbus of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Council #12862, in Sharpsburg, will host their first charity barbecue Saturday, Oct. 28, from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Sharpsburg Community Center in downtown Sharpsburg next to the old post office.

The event will feature the well-known barbecue of Paul McKnight.

Tickets are $8 and will include barbecue pork, Brunswick stew, baked beans, chips and bread. Iced tea and desserts also will be available. Dinners may be purchased to eat in or carry out.

This is the first barbecue the Knights have prepared for the public and it is hoped that it will be an annual charity fund raiser for the church group.

“We’re really excited about offering this great meal to the entire community,” said Mark Breyne, newly named Grand Knight of the K of C at St. Mary’s. “Once folks taste this terrific barbecue meal they’ll line up for more.”

Tickets are available from any member of the Knights organization or by e-mailing ticket requests to kofcbbq@charter.net. Tickets also may be purchased by calling Breyne, 770-253-8970 or barbecue chair Jim Vaughn, 770-254-9510.

Home delivery is available in the local area for orders of five or more meals.
