By Kristine Loughman At Aberdeen Family Chiropractic Health Center, Dr. Rod Justice and Dr. Karen Mathiak believe that chiropractic care is not just for back and neck pain, it is about regaining and maintaining health. According to the Association of Chiropractic Colleges’ Web site (www.chirocolleges.org), “The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health.” Chiropractors believe that when nerve transmissions between the brain and the spinal cord are compromised, it negatively impacts a person’s health. By adjusting the vertebra in the spine back into proper alignment, nerve transmissions are once again able to flow properly and a healthier level of function occurs. “We love to help our patients to achieve a higher quality of life,” Dr. Mathiak says. She tells of one patient who came into Aberdeen Family Chiropractic Health Center suffering from debilitating headaches. “This lady was not able to function well at all,” she explains. “After we started adjusting her, not only did her headaches respond to chiropractic care but she noticed her allergies cleared up and she just felt better all around. She has since gotten her entire family under care.” “Having a nervous system that functions properly allows people to function better and be healthier on every level,” Dr. Justice says. “Adjusting the spine for nerve interference produces a healthier, happier person no matter what their age.” Originally from Trenton, Michigan, Dr. Justice is a 1979 graduate of the Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Long active in chiropractic politics, Dr. Justice has held many positions in the Georgia Council of Chiropractic, the state chiropractic association. 2007 will mark his 25th year of delivering quality chiropractic care to the citizens of Fayette County. Dr. Mathiak’s wealth of experience in family practice and the care of athletes will be an added benefit to Fayette County. Caring for children for over 20 years has given her an insight into just how the detection and correction of spinal nerve interference can benefit the body during the growing years. |
