Alpha Internal Medicine was founded by Betsy S. Horton-Pawlowski, M.D.. The door first opened at 886 West Lanier Avenue in Fayetteville, February 1998. The medical community was in a steep growth thanks to the opening of Fayette community Hospital that same year. Though Dr. Horton was a novice at that time in private practice and business management, many years of long hours, learning new skills, and a commitment to providing excellent service by herself and her staff has resulted in a thriving practice with patient satisfaction as the primary goal.

Dr. Horton puts it this way, “ the challenge to this business is developing and delivering excellent medical care while never forgetting that our patients are our customers. Furthermore, our goal is to meet the individual needs of all our patients so they leave our office feeling as if we truly care about them”.

Over the years, services have been expanded to include a nutritionist for one-on-one consultations . Whether a patient needs counseling regarding disease management, such as diabetes or they simply want to loose weight with a sensible nutrition plan, Lisa Stillman, R.D., L.D., MPH has developed individual programs that have produced results. Her services are open to all citizens of Fayette county with very affordable rates. Alpha Internal Medicine also offers deep tissue massage using the latest techniques to assist patients with relief from muscle and bone pain. Massage therapy is also an effective means of ridding the body and mind of stress that so often impedes out health and well being. Karen Hall, CMT, NMT is an exemplary and highly qualified massage therapist.

The doctors and providers of Alpha Internal Medicine are dedicated to meeting the comprehensive emotional and physical needs of our patients. Their commitment is to follow their patients even through crises that may lead to hospitalization at Piedmont Fayette Hospital.
The practice also believes in civic responsibility as they support many non-profit organizations in our community. The Fayette Care Clinic, co-founded by Dr Horton, in conjunction with other community and health care organizations, provides indigent medical and specialty care to those less fortunate in Fayette County. The dividends of this investment are infinite not only for the patients it serves, but also for those who tirelessly work and support this worthy cause.

In May, 2006, Alpha Internal Medicine moved to a new state-of-the-art medical facility on 745 South Glynn Street in Fayetteville. Dr. Horton’s vision was to have enough space to meet the diverse, increasing needs of the growing community. The office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm.

The other providers at Alpha Internal Medicine are Diliana Panova, M.D., Carrie Madej Collins, D.O. and Coral Benge, PA-C.
