During the month of September, Brownie Troop #176 kicked off a “Share Some Care by Giving a Bear” service project which entailed collecting new and gently loved bears and other stuffed toys to donate to the Tyrone emergency services group.

The police, fire, and emergency personnel will use these toys to comfort local children during emergencies.

The troop originally estimated they would collect a few hundred stuffed toys.

Even before their participation in the Annual Tyrone Founders Day Parade they exceeded their original goal.

The troop received an overwhelming response to this project and they send their thanks to all who donated a toy and a special thank you to Tyrone Elementary School, Robert J. Burch Elementary School, A Moment in Time Scrapbooking, Eagle Signs, Sarah & Friends Consignment, Twigs, Century 21 Scarbrough Properties, Royal Learners, and First Christian Church of Tyrone for their support in allowing collection boxes to be kept at their businesses.

With their support, the girls far exceeded their original goal and presented over 1,200 stuffed toys to Chief Johnny Hay and members of Fire Station #3.

The troop sends out a big thanks and says to look for them next September.
