Supporting local conservation Bluegrass on the Green, a benefit to support community conservation, will be held this Saturday, Oct. 21 on the lawn of historic Catalpa Plantation, 2295 Poplar Rd., in rural Coweta County. Everyone is invited to attend the fall fundraiser, which will start at 6 p.m., hosted by Southern Conservation Trust and Peachtree National Bank. Southern Conservation Trust owns and manages local natural areas and holds conservation easements, a legal tool that allows landowners to permanently protect their land while continuing to own and use it, and receive significant tax benefits. Bluegrass on the Green will raise money for public nature preserves, community programs and the Trust’s work with local landowners who wish to permanently protect their land. This year the party features the Greater Atlanta Bluegrass Band. Guests will enjoy dinner by Professional Touch catering, beverages from Georgia World of Beverages and Terrapin Beer Co., and a live and silent auction featuring many nature-related items such as a weekend for two at Callaway Gardens, custom jewelry and carved wood art. Twenty business sponsors have signed on including the Midwest Home Builders Association and Brent Scarbrough & Co. “We have fantastic support from the local business community, especially Peachtree National, Pathway Communities, 20 South magazine and Guthrie Construction,” said Trust executive director Abby Jordan. “The auction will be perfect for Christmas shopping with more than 50 items including nature-inspired custom jewelry and art and one week’s stay at a luxurious home on Lake Wedowee.” Admission is $50 per person. Guests may RSVP online, by phone, by email or pay at the door the evening of the event.
