Davis honored for his long tenure

The Coweta County Board of Education and Evans Middle School dedicated the school’s new administrative wing to former principal Jerry Davis.

Davis – a 30-year educator and the current Assistant Superintendent for Operations in the Coweta county School System – was honored for his long term as principal of the Coweta Middle School.

Davis was only the second principal of Evans, succeeding Herman Fletcher, who helmed the school from its opening in 1972 to 1988. Davis enjoyed a similarly long principalship, lasting 16 years until he was promoted to Assistant Superintendent in 2005.

The new wing was added to the school by the school board in 2005, replacing the school’s office and allowing for more classroom space at Evans, in addition to providing parents and staff a more convenient and secure front office and entrance.
