Rebekah Rhodes, a striking red-haired beauty from Fayetteville, was selected Miss North Georgia State Fair (ages 18-24 years) in the annual pageant on opening night of the fair on Callaway Road in Marietta, Sept. 21. The daughter of Sherry Whitman and Steve Rhodes, she is a 2006 honor graduate of Starr’s Mill Hill School. Currently an eighteen-year-old freshman at Truett-McConnell College, Rhodes plans to be a second grade teacher when she graduates. Rhodes will be a public relations ambassador during the coming year. One of her first duties was judging the Fair Beautiful Baby Pageant (ages up to 3 years) that attracted 242 contestants. The fair pageant was staged and directed by the Miss Cobb County Pageant, as a fund-raiser for the Miss Cobb scholarship fund. Some 131 contestants competed for 7 beauty titles for ages 3 years to 24 years. Rhodes was selected from a field of 24 contestants in her age group. Judging was based on beauty, poise and personality. Judges who are affiliated with the Miss America system included the reigning Miss Georgia, Amanda Kozak of Warner Robins. Rhodes received a tiara, banner, flowers, passes to the fair and large stuffed animal from the midway. She looks forward to a trip to Italy for her spring break, a gift from her grandmother. She keeps physically fit by walking two miles every night around the campus at Truett-McConnell College. login to post comments |
