Alvis A. Dye, 77, Tyrone, died Nov. 10, 2005. He was born Nov. 12, 1927 in Glascock County. Services were at the Mill Creek Baptist Church, Gibson, with the Rev. Tony Key officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Ruby J. Dye, Tyrone; a son, Robert J. Dye, Canton; daughters, Emma J. Freeman, Daphene D. Chaffin, and Alicia Ann Dye, all of Grantville, and Nancy R. High, Dearing; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Archie A. Dye, Houston, Texas; and sisters, Katie M. Brewer and Gypsie B. Strickland both of Houston, Texas. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home handled the local arrangements.
