Since we last heard about Fayetteville resident John Parker and his "Shark Shower", back in the July 28, 2004 edition of The Citizen, he and his monster-size idea have been featured in nine national magazines and two international magazines. The attention caught the eye of Home and Garden Television and Parker, his wife, Julie, and the shark shower, also known as “K-Bite” were recently filmed by a HGTV crew to be featured on an upcoming episode of “Look What I Did.”

“I did not realize so much went into a tv show,” said Parker, discussing all of the film crew work that went on that day at their lakehouse on Lake Sinclair. “They filmed pretty much all day for a feature that will only run for a few minutes.” HGTV said it is about a two week process to do the editing and then the final review. Both Parker and his wife, their niece Karen (K-Bite was named for her) and their new daughter in law Kelly “Hewes” Williams were all filmed and will appear in the piece.

There is no set date for when the piece will run, but Parker thinks it will be sometime early next year.

K-Bite is nearly 15’ tall and 36” across. It was covered in over 400 square feet of fiberglass cloth and an estimated 17 gallons of resin and eight gallons of speed-liner. The project took close to 200 hours and Parker received help from his wife and sons, Michael and Joe. As word spread about the shark shower, the lakehouse has had numerous visitors drop by, telling the Parkers they saw it in a magazine. After taking a closer look, several have asked if they could take a shower in it and the Parkers have been happy to oblige.

Parker promises to keep The Citizen posted on the happenings of “K-Bite” and when the shower and its creator will appear on HGTV.

“It was The Citizen that put the “Shark Shower” on the map,” Parker said, adding, “It has been a lot of fun.”
