Volleyball post-season begins this weekTue, 10/17/2006 - 2:23pm

McIntosh will host the Area 3-AAAA tournament beginning tomorrow evening. The Lady Chiefs, which closed the season with six straight wins, are the top seed in the tournament. They will face the winner of the Fayette County/Riverdale match, scheduled for 5 p.m., at 7 p.m. Whitewater will take on Lovejoy at 5 p.m. and will face the winner of McIntosh’s first game at 10 a.m. on Sunday. The Starr’s Mill Lady Panthers, the second seed in the area, will start the tournament with a match against Creekside at 6 p.m. The winner of that match will meet the winner of Northgate and Banneker at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Starr’s Mill ended the regular season with a loss to Starr’s Mill and a victory over Sandy Creek. The 6-AAA tournament, which features Sandy Creek as the top seed, starts at Cartersville High School tomorrow. Sandy Creek fell to Landmark Christian and Starr’s Mill last Thursday. The 3-AA/A volleyball tournament started last night at Our Lady of Mercy after the paper went to press. Landmark Christian is the top seed and Our Lady of Mercy is the fourth seed.
