Peter Gibson, the author of a new book titled “Who Moved My Magnet?” will give a talk at the Fayette County Public Library on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m.

Gibson’s book encourages families to re-examine how the medical industry can so easily draw them, like a magnet, into its maze and to take charge of their health, so they can stay out of that maze. The emphasis is on making it easier to adopt healthy habits by making the process fun for both kids and adults. Designed for families to enjoy together, and to entertain as well as educate, “Who Moved My Magnet?” tells stories about Wellness Wombats like Mason the Bloodletter, Florence the Nurse at the Camp with a Swinging Lamp and Sheila the Wide-Eyed Wombat, who walks you through medicine’s history. Other fun characters also appear, such as Sick Rick, Rita Linn, Di Beatties and Senator Perry Stalsis, to name just a few.

Following successful careers in the hotel, restaurant and travel management businesses, Peter Gibson has spent the last ten years helping his clients become self-reliant by coaching them to embrace self-care.

According to Gibson, his book dissects medicine’s history and explains how medicine came to be the force it is today and how it has conditioned people into believing it can manage their health better than they can.

“The message is simple. Everyone, no matter what their age, needs to take control of their own health—to move their own magnet—and not rely solely on the health care system,” said Gibson.

After speaking, Gibson will sign copies of “Who Moved My Magnet?” which will be available for sale.

Light refreshments will be served. This free event is open to the public, and brought to you by the Fayette County Public Library and the Friends of the Fayette County Public Library.

The Fayette County Public Library is located at 1821 Heritage Park Way in Fayetteville, behind the county administrative complex at the corner of highways 85 and 54. For more information, please contact the library at 770-461-8841.
