There are pigs at the Peachtree City Library. Local artisans have again been asked to contribute, in a very unique way, to the American Cancer Society’s 2006 Barons’ Ball. One hundred white ceramic piggy banks have been distributed to local artists for decorating and will be sold or auctioned off at the annual fundraiser. The Barons’ Ball is a western themed annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The proceeds from this event are used for local programs of the American Cancer Society that are made available to our community free of charge, as well as funding research and development. The first three balls have raised over $460,000. This year’s ball will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center in Peachtree City. Decorated pigs made their first appearance at last year’s ball. The artisan decorated pigs were an overwhelming success. For a donation of $25 patrons chose the pig of their choice and searched inside for a surprise prize. The all-white ceramic pigs, which were obtained by Fayetteville’s Hobby Lobby and store manager Mike Rickles, are again being distributed by Kimberly “Kimbo” Daniel an artist designer and owner of Kimbo’s Frames and Things in Fayetteville. Daniel was inspired to assist with the Barons’ Ball after the cancer death of three close friends and family members in one month. Daniel has asked a wide variety of artisans to assist in decorating the all-white pigs. The artists are asked to be very creative and use a variety of mediums to express their artistic abilities. Additional pigs are still available, if you would like to decorate one, please contact Daniel at her Fayetteville store. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available. If you would like sponsorship information or an invitation to attend the 2006 Barons’ Ball, please contact the American Cancer Society at 770-460-8920 or check out the Web site at www.baronsball.com. login to post comments |
