Increasing the number of educational programs and resources available to members will be the number one goal of the Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia in the coming year, incoming president Mike Daughtry told members and guests at the association’s annual officer installation dinner. The black-tie event was held at the historic Hollingsworth House in Fayetteville. Daughtry said that in the year ahead the organization would also develop more educational programs for consumers that demonstrate the value of dealing with members of Home Builders Associations. Daughtry, president of Hilpine Builders and the publisher of 20 South Magazine, lauded outgoing president Jeff Waddell for increasing the associations membership from 650 to over 750 members during the past year and called for the organization to continue increasing the membership in the months ahead. The HBA of Midwest Georgia is the third largest home builders association in Georgia and is one of the top 100 HBAs in the nation based on number of members. In his remarks, Waddell credited HBA of Midwest Georgia Executive Officer Sandy Boda and staff members Jabra Satterfield and Cheryl Tingwald for the work and accomplishments of the past year, including membership development and managing special events. This year’s association golf tournament won the Home Builders Association of Georgia’s “Georgia Outstanding Association Leadership” (GOAL) award for the most improved project or event, and 18 area high school and college students received college scholarships funded by the organization. Kurt Cannon, the secretary of the Home Builders Association of Georgia and a former president and vice president of the HBA of Rabun County, conducted the installation ceremony. Installed as officers for the 2006-2007 year, along with Daughtry, were Bill Daprano, vice president; Greg Lewis, associate vice president; John Cox, treasurer; and Dan Petry, secretary. Directors for the year ahead are: Gene Barber, Bob Barnard, Jason Betsill, Jeff Betsill, Patsy Dunagan, Chad Floyd, Dennis Floyd, Jim Fulp, Tom Hall, Randy Hayes, Kenny Johnson, Mike Kruse, Gary Lawson, Eddie Lusher, Mac McKinney, Mark Mullins, Jerry Neese, Richard Simms, Eric Smith, Liz Taylor, Jerry Tedder and Lang Thompson. The Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia is a professional organization of home builders and others associated with the building industry.
