Busy weekend for local schoolsTue, 10/10/2006 - 4:51pm

Six local schools competed in cross-country over the weekend, running in two separate meets. The Fayette County Tigers finished first in the 4A-5A division of the Spalding Invitational cross-country meet in Griffin over the weekend, while the Lady Tigers came in second. Sandy Creek was third in the boys’ half of the 1A-3A division and second on the girls’ side. Top Fayette boys finishers were Ryan Kennedy (2, 17:11), David Zitelli (3, 17:47), Brett Gaglione (16, 19:00), Mark Torre (17, 19:04) and Austin Vorwald (26, 19:40). Top Fayette girls finishers were Rebecca Kollmeyer (11, 23:45), Liliana Urrego (13, 23:58), Rachel Shirley (33, 27:07), Kaylee Pritchett (35, 27:58) and Samantha Coopage (36, 28:04). Top Sandy Creek boys finishers were Dustin Page (10, 18.17), Jerry Riet (21, 19.13), Zack Smith (23, 19.24), Joseph Grannis (25, 19.36) and Ryan LeBlanc (27, 19.45). Top Sandy Creek girls finishers were Alexis Blackburn (1, 21.32), Marina Fleming (3, 21.51), Shelly Boling (19, 25.11), Emily Goss (21, 25.21) and Michelle Ramsey (44, 32.51). At the Alexander/Asics Invitional in Douglas County, McIntosh finished 12th in the championship boys competition while Whitewater was 20th. On the girls’ side, McIntosh was eighth, with Starr’s Mill finishing 12th and Whitewater 15th. Top McIntosh boys finishers included Michael Mateos (9, 16:33.21), Brendan Leonard (67, 17:47.93), Cormac Carolan (75, 17:59.96), Craig Western (79, 18:02.56) and Brian Huefner (85, 18:05.00). Top McIntosh girls finishers included Kate West (8, 19:32.89), April Esposito (12, 19:36.81), Kaia Hampton (49, 20:38.47), Emily Kim (83, 21:39.27) and Meghan Takacs (87, 21:47.09). Top Whitewater boys finishers included Josh Adair (33, 17:05.46), Austin Perry (80, 18:02.84), Daniel Herlow (95, 18:13.90), Josiah Myersrough (103, 18:19.93) and William Morrisey (123, 18:34.62). Top Whitewater girls finishers included Kasie Knapper (15, 19:45.46), Londrillo, Briana Londrillo (43, 20:32.27), Lauren Perkins (98, 21:57.71), Bryanna Cressy (114, 22:23.22) and Julia Kortrey (124, 22:42.00). Top Starr’s Mill girls finishers included Jackie Sample (17, 19:48.99), Sarah Balkcom (62, 20:55.23), Jamie Burr (77, 21:20.21), Molly Musselwhite (91, 21:52.83) and Ginny Hyer (94, 21:54.97. In the open division at Alexander, Landmark came in second on the boys side, with Starr’s Mill finishing seventh and McIntosh 15th. The Landmark girls finished first in the open division, with McIntosh coming in seventh and Starr’s Mill 11th. Top Landmark boys finishers included Daniel Hix (6, 17:15.40), Gomez, Mehamed Gomez (21, 17:42.68), Pike, Laex Pike (24, 17:49.30), Leonard, Michael Leonard (25, 17:56.27) and Speir, Zack Speir (58, 18:28.62). Top Landmark girls finishers included Kaity Bulger (1, 19:49.71), Hannah Gravitt (2, 20:28.18), Georgiana Moody (10, 21:17.93), Christian McGuire (11, 21:20.60) and Kassi Deel (55, 22:29.93). Top Starr’s Mill boys finishers included Clay Ligon (11, 17:25.65), Eric Finke (42, 18:13.81), Trad Ritchey (52, 18:22.74), Steven Sanders (66, 18:35.08) and Gray Phelps (71, 18:39.18). Top Starr’s Mill girls finishers included MacKenzie Robbins (54, 22:29.37), Julie Thompson (56, 22:30.22), Lindsey Stephens (80, 23:12.04), Katy Heflin (87, 23:14.69) and Amelia Sargent (130, 24:26.57). Top McIntosh boys finishers included Jonathan Hung (57, 18:27.90), Manuel Pacheco (61, 18:33.21), James Breest (97, 18:56.70), Stephen Romanow (104, 19:03.65) and Andy Karas (132, 19:34.84). Top McIntosh girls finishers included Ally Montemurro (31, 21:54.45), Libby Taylor (33, 21:55.26), Denver Bailey (38, 22:02.77), Shelby Goodwin (57, 22:31.22) and Whitney Huguelet (59, 22:34.00).
