The Rev. Dr. Charles Boayue Jr., pastor of Second Grace United Methodist Church in Detroit, Mich., will be the guest pastor at the 9:30 and 11 a.m. services of Peachtree City United Methodist Church this Sunday, Oct. 15.

Boayue, a native of Liberia, was educated in the U.S. and began his pastoral service in 1989. He has traveled worldwide in ecumenical service of the United Methodist Church, including serving as a director of the General Board of Global Ministries from 1996 through 2004.

Boayue will share his knowledge of the Liberian people and will focus on the significance of the church’s efforts in Liberia.

A team of PTC UMC members traveled to Liberia in March of this year lead by senior pastor Chuck Hodges, who was invited to participate in the Liberia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, held in Monrovia.

In response to this first visit, the PTC UMC congregation has raised more than $75,000 for future projects.

Three PTC UMC teams will return to Liberia in February-March, 2007, and will use the donations to construct a school at the Bishop Judith Craig Children’s Home, where 90 orphaned children are being cared for and educated.

The community is invited to hear Dr. Boayue speak this Sunday and to meet him afterwards at a luncheon hosted in his honor.

Services will be at 225 Robinson Rd. Additional information is available on the church’s Web site, www.ptcumc.org.
