The Fayette County High School Sports Hall of Fame nomination committee is encouraging nominations from the public for induction.

Those eligible for induction include all FCHS graduates who have been out of school for at least 10 years. Former coaches who have departed five or more years may also be nominated. Alumni who have distinguished themselves, but not necessarily in athletics may also be eligible for nomination.

The seventh annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for March 18, 2006 at the school. Those slated to be inducted during that ceremony include former athletes Kathy Addison for basketball, Mike Gable for track, Shane Norris for soccer, Kevin Thiem for swimming and Charlie Waller for football. Coach Charlie Winslette, who came to FCHS in 1976 as an assistant coach and then guided the program as head coach from 1977 to 1983 is also being inducted.

“Fayette County High School has a proud tradition of excellence, having served our county since 1925. We are delighted to have the opportunity to honor the many alumni who should be recognized for their exemplary contributions and outstanding accomplishments,” said Dr. Charles Warr, Principal of the school. “On behalf of the Hall of Fame committee, I look forward to receiving these nominations.”

Nominations can be mailed to Dr. Warr at the school, 1 Tiger Trail, Fayetteville, Ga. 30214. Nominations are due by Jan. 4, 2006.
