Friday is grant deadline

United Way has announced that the 2007 United Way Community Impact Fund grant process is now open to eligible participants. The Community Impact Fund awards one-year grants to local organizations with programs aligned with Fayette County United Way community priorities. Trained volunteers review applications, conduct site visits and award grants.

Grant applications will be accepted and screened from new programs (programs not currently receiving a Community Impact Fund grant) again this year based on their alignment with local United Way priorities.

Fayette County’s United Way will accept new program applications only in these areas: Parenting Skills and Support, After School, Substance Abuse, and

Individuals/Families in Crisis. These service areas, the process and application are now available on the United Way web site unitedwayatlanta.org. New program applications are due on Friday, October 13, 2006 by 4 p.m. Applicants will be notified via e-mail no later than Friday, October 27, 2006,as to whether they have been approved to move forward and complete a full application for the grant.

In 2006, United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta invested $31.6 million in nearly 400 programs throughout its 13 county service region through the Community Impact Fund. The Community Impact Fund is composed of contributions from donors who designate their contribution to solving critical community issues.
