The Gym South Level 5 & 6 Girls Gymnastics Team continued their season this past weekend in Woodstock for the 'Turkey Tumble' Gymnastics Meet. While quite a few were unable to compete due to illness, the girls still represented the gym in fine style. The level 6's had girls win medals in all events. Tori Kinamon placed on vault, beam, and floor. Alexis Salvanera placed on the bars and beam, and Kaycee Bunn placed on the floor. The level 5 team defeated 11 other teams and came away winning the meet. Their team score of 108.825 is their highest team score this year. The team score is calculated by adding the three highest scores on each event for each team. Gym South only had four girls competing this weekend, while many of the other teams had 10 or more girls. For the 11 year olds, Kirstie Barkoot took first place in every event and the All-Around scoring a 36.85. In the 10 year old age group, Shayla Moore took first on vault and floor, while Lauren Spier was first on bars. The girls were first and second in the All-Around. For the nine year olds, Shamira Johnson was first on vault, floor, and all-around. The level 5's continue their season next week at the Cobb Civic Center, while the level 6's take the week off in order to prepare for their state meet Nov.19 and 20 at the Roswell Parks and Recreation Center. login to post comments |
