Fairburn City Council Sept. 28 approved the conceptual site plan for a Chick-Fil-A restaurant, the city’s newest addition to the growing number of businesses along Ga. Highway 74 near I-85.

The vote came as some on the board and in the audience expressed obvious favor at the idea of having the restaurant chain arrive in Fairburn along the Hwy. 74 corridor. Situated on a one-acre tract on the east side of Hwy. 74 between Oakley Industrial and I-85, the 3,921 square-foot building will seat 104 and have parking for 46 vehicles, City Administrator Jim Williams said. The restaurant is expected to be equipped with a playground, Williams added.

Earlier in the evening the council voted to annex the Chick-Fil-A site and the Dunkin Donuts property immediately to the north.
