The Prudential BlazeTennis Run/Roll Challenge, a regional wheelchair tennis tournament sponsored by Prudential and presented by BlazeSports America in collaboration with the USTA Southern Section, will be played Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Peachtree City Tennis Center. Play begins at 9 a.m. The public is invited and there is no admission charge. Up to 40 run/roll doubles teams will compete for the trophy. Run/Roll also known as One Up/One Down is a doubles format in which one person is in a wheelchair and one person is on foot. The teams competing in the Prudential BlazeTennis Run/Roll Challenge are composed of seasoned tournament players and the event offers an exciting spectator opportunity and community support. The BlazeTennis Challenge, which began in 2000 as The Governor’s Cup in Atlanta, Georgia, has grown into a national event. This year Prudential BlazeTennis Run/Roll Challenges are being held from coast to coast in such cities as San Antonio, TX, Santa Barbara, California and Atlanta, Georgia. The competition has spun off year round community-based BlazeSports tennis programs across the country. The Prudential BlazeTennis Run/Roll Challenge is a program of the BlazeSports America, Inc. in partnership with USTA. BlazeSports is the successor organization of the 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games. 2006 marks the Ten Year Anniversary of the Games and celebrates a decade of sports programming for children and adults with physical disabilities. BlazeSports America has programs in 49 communities in 25 states and the District of Columbia. login to post comments |
