• The editors at National Youth Baseball have named Peachtree City’s Jack Berry of the 12U East Cobb Astros to the 2006 12U All American Team in recognition of his outstanding play this past season.

Berry is a powerful hitter and was a unanimous selection by the NYB Player Recognition Committee. Berry suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm on Aug. 9, 2005 and made it back through rehabilitation to achieve All-American status in one year.

• Starr’s Mill graduate Aubrey Ireland scored the fourth and fifth goals for Berry College’s women’s soccer team in a recent 5-0 win over Columbia.

• McIntosh graduate Megan Cheatham had 58 assists for the Berry College volleyball team in their games against Faulkner and Spring Hill last weekend. The freshman added 27 assists in the Lady Vikings’ win over Brenau.

• McIntosh graduate Nicole Degner placed third in the Georgia Collegiate Invitational, helping the Berry Lady Vikings to an overall win and earning all state honors for herself.

• McIntosh graduate Kellie Myles scored the first goal for Columbus State’s women’s soccer team, in their 4-0 win over Lenoir-Rhyne last week.

• Jenny Shular, a Starr’s Mill graduate playing tennis for Penn State, lost her doubles match against Wisconsin last weekend, but got the lone singles win, shutting out Erin Jobe, 6-0, 6-0.
