Scott Slade, host of Atlanta’s Morning News on News/Talk 750 WSB and the voice of the annual Great Georgia Air Show, has been named Major Market Personality of the Year at the 2006 National Association of Broadcasters’ Marconi Radio Awards. The awards were announced Sept. 21 at the annual NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner and Show held in conjunction with the NABJ Radio Show in Dallas. Slade celebrated his 22nd year with News/Talk 750 WSB in August and has been the host of Atlanta’s Morning News since 1991. “This is a real honor that would not have been possible without the best broadcasters in America surrounding me on Atlanta’s Morning News,” said Slade. “You are only as good as your team. I play up to them, they don’t up to me. This is the best radio station in America and I’m proud to be part of it,” Slade added. “Atlanta’s Morning News with Scott Slade” airs from 5-8:30 a.m. weekday mornings on News/Talk 750 WSB and is a perennial Atlanta ratings leader. Slade has been the host of “Atlanta’s Morning News” since its debut in January 1991. A Griffin, Georgia native, Scott Slade’s radio career spans more than 30 years. This is WSB’s fourth Marconi Award in five years. In 2002, the NAB named WSB its Legendary Station of the Year. In 2004, Slade won Large Market Personality of the Year. In 2005 WSB was named Large Market Station of the Year. The prestigious award recognized radio’s outstanding personalities and stations in 22 categories. An independent task force selected the finalists and ballots were sent to members of the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Selection Academy in August. The ballots were tabulated by an independent accounting firm. News/Talk 750 WSB is Atlanta’s source for news, weather, traffic, and entertaining and informative talk. WSB is also the home to nationally syndicated talk show host Neal Boortz and consumer watchdog Clark Howard. The station is owned and operated by Cox Radio Inc. (CXR) which is one of the largest radio broadcasting companies in the United States, owning 79 stations in 18 markets. Slade will once again be the emcee for the Great Georgia Air Show being held in Peachtree City Oct. 14 and 15 at Falcon Field. For more information call 770-632-0365. login to post comments |
