The Peachtree City Running Club announced that there are only two weeks left to register for the Classic Road Race. There are already over 1,500 runners and walkers registered. When the limits are met, no applications will be accepted, so if you want to run or walk the Classic, get your application in soon.

The Classic actually consists of three different races: a women’s 5K, a men’s 5K, and a 15K open. Walkers are welcome in both 5K events and all participants will receive a Classic sweatshirt. All races will take place Saturday, Oct. 21, along the scenic golf cart paths of Peachtree City. The 15K is touted as the best 15K course in Georgia and is always a sellout.

All races are run on separate TAC-certified courses, and start and finish at the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater. Participants will be electronically timed with the Champion Chip. A Pre-Race Expo will be held at the amphitheater on Friday, Oct. 20, from 5-9 p.m. and on the Saturday race day from 7-11 a.m. The Expo will include health and fitness products, sponsors, and selected vendors.

Applications are available at various locations in Peachtree City, Newnan, and Fayetteville, including local recreation departments, libraries, and sporting goods stores. You can also register on line at www.ptcrc.com. All applications must be received by Oct. 16. If race limits are not met, applications will be accepted at the Friday night Expo held at the Amphitheater in Peachtree City. If you have any further questions about the race, you can send an e-mail to ptcclassic@bellsouth.net.
