Four local volleyball teams stay ranked, get some significant winsFri, 09/29/2006 - 9:58am

There are still four local teams ranked within the top 10 of their respective classifications in a GaSports.com poll and as the season nears an end, these teams are looking to gain some experience and momentum for post-season play.
McIntosh (21-10, 8-0 region) is ranked third in AAAA. The Lady Chiefs got region wins over Whitewater (25-14, 25-21) and Banneker (25-14,25-5) on Tuesday. They will take on Blessed Trinity and Landmark at Landmark Christian next Thursday. Blessed Trinity is ranked second in AA/A and Landmark is ranked eighth. The Lady War Eagles (13-11, 5-0) recently got wins over Lovett (24-26, 25-23, 25-23) and Paideia (25-13, 25-10). The team hosted Newnan and Columbus yesterday after the paper went to press. Starr’s Mill (31-4, 5-1region) is ranked second in AAAA. The team defated Marietta (25-13, 25-19) and Lakeside, DeKalb (25-12, 25-14) last Thursday before getting region wins over Fayette County (25-14, 25-10) and Creekside (25-4, 25-9) on Tuesday. The Lady Panthers will take on Wesleyan and Woodward Academy at Woodward next Tuesday and will host Sandy Creek and Columbus next Thursday. Sandy Creek (34-8, 6-0) is ranked third in AAA. The Lady Patriots got wins over East Coweta (25-23, 25-18), Fayette County (25-15, 25-17), Columbus (14-25, 25-23, 25-23), Whitewater (25-16, 25-14) and Northgate (25-14, 25-17) last Saturday before getting region wins over Cass (25-10, 25-10) and Cartersville (25-16, 25-16) on Tuesday. Sandy Creek will play at Alcovy this weekend and will play at Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy next Tuesday. In other recent volleyball action, Northgate got wins over Lovejoy (25-15, 25-12) and Riverdale (25-15, 25-12). They played at LaGrange yesterday after the paper went to press and will play at Eagle’s Landing this weekend. Our Lady of Mercy got wins over Forsyth Central (17-25, 25-17, 25-20) and Mundy’s Mill (25-10, 24-26, 25-13). The Lady Bobcats will play at Atlanta International on Saturday. login to post comments |
