John Perry “Shorty” Byrom Sr., 88, Riverdale, died Sept. 17, 2006. He was born July 6, 1918 in Senoia, son of the late Frank and Nellie Byrom. He was preceded in death by wives, Ruby Mae Byrom and Bernice Byrom. He was a decorated World War Il veteran. He was retired in 1976 with 30 years of service in the maintenance department of Chrysler Corporation. He was a member of North Fayette Baptist Church. Services were at the North Fayette Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jim Willis officiating. Interment was at College Park Cemetery. Survivors include sons Perry and Julie Byrom, Jackson, Lamar and Carolyn Byrom, Riverdale, Dennis and Sandra Byrom, Fayetteville, Joel and Shelia Byrom, Meansville, and Keith and Donna Byrom, Tyrone; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
