Broadway comes to town tomorrow

The Tony-Award winning musical “Ain’t Misbehavin” will be performed at the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts of Coweta County this Saturday at 8 p.m.

The original Broadway cast will perform the show, which was made famous by the late Nell Carter and the music of Fats Waller. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for students and senior citizens 55 and up.

“Ain’t Misbehaven’” encompasses 30 show-stopping musical numbers, including Waller classics like “Honeysuckle Rose,” “Squeeze Me, ““Your Feets Too Big and That Ain’t Right,” as well as the title number. Fast-paced music and snazzy period costumes recall classic New York and Harlem in its heyday, from the Cotton Club to Tin Pan Alley to the Waldorf.

The show opened on Broadway in 1977, followed by a 1980’s revival. Coweta audiences will have an opportunity to see the cast that won the show several Tony awards, including for best musical.
