Prudential Georgia Realty’s Peachtree City office recently hosted its first-ever Sunshine Kids Walk. Funds raised from the three-mile walk---more than $4,400---will go to benefit the Sunshine Kids Foundation, an organization assisting children with cancer.

The walk took place Saturday, Aug. 12, at Picnic Park in Peachtree City.

More than 30 people from the Prudential office participated. In addition, a local couple who had lost their child to cancer, but who had previously benefited from the services of the Sunshine Kids Foundation, also showed up to participate in the walk.

The Sunshine Kids Foundation is the official charity of Prudential Georgia Realty. In 2005, the firm’s 23 branch offices collectively raised $132,597 and the firm is on pace to best that donation amount for 2006.

Some form of cancer affects, on average, more than 12,000 children in the United States each year.

Cancer is still the leading cause of death by disease in children under the age of 15.

Earlier this year, the Prudential Peachtree City office also participated in its seventh WalkAmerica to benefit the March of Dimes, raising nearly $3,000. In the office’s seven-year involvement, it has raised more than $20,000 for this cause.

In addition, this office is hosting its annual cookout for the community on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Free to the public, it will feature hot dogs, chips, drinks, door prizes and entertainment. This year marks the fourth year the Prudential Georgia Realty Peachtree City office has held this event. Last year’s picnic/cookout was attended by more than 500 people. It will take place at The Avenue Shopping Plaza.
