A countywide task force created to battle the devastating affects of methamphetamine abuse is inviting the community to a seminar on the issue Sept. 27 from noon to 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Peachtree City.

Among the topics that will be presented include “What every parent needs to know,” “The damaging effects of drugs on children and fetuses,” and “Identifying and assisting drug endangered children.”

The Fayetteville and Peachtree City police departments will also present information about how meth abuse is occurring in their jurisdictions.

Among those invited are leaders of the faith, medical and business communities, school staffers, law enforcement, and agencies that serve families, children and parents.

The workshop will be preceded by a lunch and exhibition starting at 11 a.m.; to participate an RSVP is required by e-mailing Becky@FayetteMethTaskForce.com or calling 770-461-9838 or 404-291-1602.

Interested persons unable to attend Wednesday’s workshop can get more detailed information online at www.fayettemethtaskforce.com. The site includes sections on recognizing signs that meth is being manufactured nearby, how to tell if someone may be abusing meth and links to treatment programs.
