By: The Citizen
Tyrone’s Hopewell United Methodist Church will host its annual Pumpkin Patch Fall Festival Saturday, Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the church, 351 Jenkins Rd., across from Sandy Creek High School. There will be pumpkins to buy and activities scheduled throughout the day. From 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. a craft bazaar will be held in the sanctuary and a yard sale and community blood drive in the parking lot. There is no charge for display space at the community-wide bazaar. To display crafts at the bazaar, or to donate blood at the LifeSouth bloodmobile, call the church office, 770-306-7537. From 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., children can enjoy a jumping room, be entertained by the New Hope Baptist Clown Troop, and explore police and emergency vehicles. The Methodist Men also will sell hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks during this time. Proceeds from pumpkin sales fund the church’s charitable activities throughout the year. This past year church members embarked on a mission trip to help hurricane Katrina victims, hosted an army of youth during their community home improvement project called “River of Life,” went on a mission trip to Mexico to build a house for a needy family, and furnished food and volunteers for Trinity UMC’s Soup Kitchen in downtown Atlanta. For more information about the festival, contact the church office, 770-306-7537 or e-mail the church, hopeumc1@bellsouth.net. login to post comments |
