Local teams finish well at Sandy Creek Invitational

Sandy Creek High School hosted the Sandy Creek Invitational on Saturday and the racing action was top-notch. In the championship boys division, Landmark Chrisitian finished first, beating Starr’s Mill by a point, despite the Panthers’ Austin Enriquez winning the race by a margin of over 30 seconds. McIntosh placed fourth in the race.

The top runners for Landmark were:
• Chad Thames, 2, 16:59
• Mehamed Gomez, 8, 18:03
• Michael Leonard, 9, 18:06
• Daniel Hix, 10, 18:10
• Alek Pike, 14, 18:34

Starr’s Mill’s top five were:
• Austin Enriquez, 1, 16:25

• Matthew Berson, 13, 18:33.88

McIntosh’s top five were:

In the championship girls division, Landmark Christian defeated McIntosh on a tie-breaker, while Starr’s Mill placed third.

In the varsity boys division, Whitewater placed third, Fayette County finished fifth, Starr’s Mill’s ‘B’ team placed seventh, Sandy Creek placed 10th and Landmark’s ‘B’ team finished 12th.
