Fulton County has reached an agreement with the Fulton County Board of Education regarding the improvements to the roads and construction at Renaissance Elementary School and the new Jones Hall Middle School in South Fulton County.

The agreement signed by both the County Manager and the Fulton County School Superintendent lists the improvements each agency will be responsible for completing along Jones and Hall Roads at Renaissance Elementary School and the new Jones Hall Middle School.

“The common denominator in our urgency to work out an agreement was our children. Both parties have made agreements not only for these schools but as we look to schools in the future,” said District 7 Commissioner William “Bill” Edwards. “We also have attempted to get an agreement to have quarterly meetings between the Board of Commissioners and the Fulton County School Board.”

The Board of Education will be responsible for the following Hall Road improvements at the Renaissance School: sidewalk along the entire property frontage, curb and gutter along the entire property frontage and a deceleration lane for each project entrance.

Fulton County will be responsible for the following Hall Road improvements at the Renaissance School: applying a road topping from Hall Road to a point 50 feet beyond the elementary school, curb cut, school zone flashers, school zone signage and striping.

The Board of Education will complete the improvements listed below at Hall Road and Jones Hall Middle School: sidewalk along the entire property frontage, curb and gutter along the entire property frontage and a deceleration lane for each project entrance.

Fulton County will complete the following Hall Road improvements at Jones Hall Middle School: school zone flashers if warranted, school zone signage and striping.

The agreement calls for the Board of Education to revise the plans for the New Jones/Hall Middle School. The plans are to reflect the improvements outlined above and resubmitted to the Department of Environment and Community Development for a land disturbance permit.
