Local environmental scientist receives international service award

Rotary member Dale Phenicie

William Boyd, president of Rotary International, a worldwide service organization of two and a half million members, has awarded of Peachtree City its Four Avenues of Service Award.

The prestigious award is given to a member of a local community who has provided service to others in the areas of vocational excellence, international service, local club service and community involvement.

In addition to serving as a past president of the Peachtree City Rotary Club, Phenicie was an early participant in the Field of Hope baseball field in Peachtree City, a ballpark that is accessible to children in wheelchairs. Phenicie also designed and chaired the committee that built the Arnold Cheek Accessible Fishing Dock in Peachtree City.

Phenicie has been active in numerous projects to protect the Flint River and insure safe drinking water for the city of Peachtree City. He currently chairs the Clean Water Committee for Rotary District 6900, an area that serves one third of the state of Georgia.

A long time resident of Peachtree City, Phenicie and his wife Barbara are active in numerous community organizations including the Jazz Edition, a volunteer band. He currently serves as elder at First Presbyterian Church.
