The Fayette County Chamber of Commerce announced the 2005 Small Business of the Year recipient at their Annual Small Business of the Year Award Luncheon Wednesday at Glendalough Manor.

The winner of the 2005 Small Business of the Year Award is The Rotary Telephone Directory for Fayette County, a tax-paying, wholly-owned business of the Rotary Club of Peachtree City. Starting out as a community service project in 1973, the Directory has grown into an award-winning Rotary business, receiving both national and international recognition. In addition to providing the community with a quality phone book, the Telephone Directory's profits are used to assist local and international humanitarian projects. The business has grown into the largest locally distributed phone book in the county, offering affordable advertising to small businesses.

The Fayette County Chamber of Commerce created the Small Business of the Year Award to recognize the exemplary dedication and innovation exhibited by a small business. Nominated businesses submitted applications and were judged on the following criteria: business plans, goals, performance, growth, vision, economic impact, civic activities and contributions to the community, and Chamber involvement. This year's nominated businesses included The Bedford School, The Complete Insurance Source, Fayette Montessori School, The Gourmet's Delight Deli, L.S. Wells, Inc., Oddo Brothers CPA's, Southeastern Healthcare Services, The Rotary Telephone Directory for Fayette County and Telephone Sales & Installation.

The Fayette County Chamber of Commerce is an association of businesses and organizations that work together to promote economic prosperity and to enhance excellent quality of life through strong leadership, networking, education and a variety of programs that encourage partnerships between businesses and our community.
