Peachtree City police apparently got some pretty good evidence against a city resident now charged with seven counts of burglary.

Nicholas Cooper, 26, of Wynnmeade Parkway, was charged with the crimes after he was being held at the Fayette County Jail on unrelated charges, police said. Police found a cell phone taken from one of the cars in Cooper’s possessions that were being held for him at the jail. They also found the photograph of another victim’s daughter in Cooper’s wallet.

The incidents were reported in the Centennial and Sweetwater Oaks subdivisions between Oct. 3 and Oct. 5, police said. Most of the victims reported that their personal belongings in their auto had been searched and some items were taken.

In most of the cases, the autos were left unlocked and thus more vulnerable to theft, police said.

Other suspects are being identified and additional arrests are expected, police said.

Police are urging residents to not only lock their cars, but to make sure they remove personal belongings that might tempt criminals.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Peachtree City Police Department at 770-631-2510. Callers may remain anonymous.
