A fire Tuesday night damaged a workshop at a home on Sumner Road in Peachtree City, officials said.

The blaze was reported at 7:25 p.m. and fire crews from Peachtree City and Fayette County responded within six minutes to 307 Sumner Road, according to Capt. Pete Nelms of the Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services.

Once on the scene, it took crews about 40 minutes to get the fire under control, Nelms said. When the first engine of several initially summoned arrived on the scene, a second round of units was summoned to the scene to help protect two nearby homes, he added.

A six-foot privacy fence made it difficult for firefighters initially, and they ultimately had to breach the fence, Nelms said.

The fire extended beyond the building to a pile of debris behind the workshop and two tires on a tractor and trailer, Nelms added.

No one was injured in the blaze.
