Pediatric flu vaccine available at Fayette Co. Health Dept.Thu, 11/10/2005 - 5:52pm
By: The Citizen
The Fayette County Health Department announced Wednesday that it is out of flu vaccine for the general public, but there are still 150 doses of pediatric flu vaccine (for ages 6-36 months) available. “We strongly encourage parents to obtain the flu vaccine for their younger children, due to the greater likelihood of complications developing from influenza illness among this age group,” according to a written statement from the Health Department. “There is no preservative in the pediatric flu vaccine, which should reduce any concern regarding mercury exposure.” The pediatric flu vaccine is being offered during the Health Department’s normal hours of operation — 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday — on a walk-in, first-come, first-serve basis. The cost of the vaccine is $25. login to post comments |
