Becky McQueen, a teacher at Fayette County’s Whitewater High School, was honored this summer by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) for service to education and to her professional association. In announcing the award, PAGE Membership Director Tim Callahan noted, “Last year, Becky was the “new kid on the block,” but by the way she promoted her professional association, one would never know it. From day one, she began recruiting members. She not only recruited at her school but also at schools throughout the entire county. She never passed up an opportunity to share information. If a member had questions or needed legal advice, she encouraged them to call and get the help they needed before the problem escalated. This year, she was again the “new kid on the block.” She changed systems but she didn’t miss a beat. She continues to recruit and share information with everyone in her school.” McQueen was named as the Outstanding PAGE Member in District Six, a twelve school system region of west central Georgia. She was the recipient of a crystal apple award presented by PAGE Executive Director Dr. Allene Magill. The award was announced earlier this summer at the group’s conference in Atlanta. login to post comments |
