J. P. Morgan, 64, Jonesboro, Fayette County, died Sept. 6, 2006. He was born Oct. 9, 1941 in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pa. He had retired as a major with the United States Army, having served in Korea. He also worked with the Clayton County Sheriff’s Department. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Dale Taylor officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Coulter Morgan, Jonesboro; a son, Gerald L. and Cheryl Morgan Jr., Rockdale County; daughters, Lynn Morgan and Tom Parham, Newton, County, and Elizabeth Payne, Fayette County; stepchildren, Tina, James, Jerry, and Wanda Ann; grandchildren, Tabitha, Jay, Ryan, Christa, Bryan, Cody, Danielle, and Tyler; great-grandchild, Hayley Madison; a brother, Sam Morgan; and a sister, Anna Beiber. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
