Union City’s summer of annexation continued Aug. 25 with recommendations by the Planning commission to rezone and annex eight parcels totaling approximately 64 acres along Buffington Road and Stonewall Tell Road.

Public hearings for five of the parcels on approximately 42 acres are located along Stonewall Tell Road. The existing Fulton County agricultural and commercial zoning designations were recommended to be assigned residential (R-1) zoning once annexed into the city.

Also recommended for rezoning and annexation were three parcels totaling approximately 22 acres on Buffington Road. Those properties are unincorporated islands requested by Fulton county earlier this year to be annexed into the city.

More annexations will follow in September. The Planning Commission will hold public hearings Sept. 18 and 25, followed by public hearings held by the city council on Sept. 19 and 26.
