Governor to appear at Fayetteville’s patriotic celebration

The Honorable Governor Sonny Purdue will be the special guest speaker at Fayetteville Main Street’s annual God & Country Night on Sunday, September 10.
The event, free patriotic concert, will include several church choirs and local choral groups as well as a tribute to the fifth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. It will be held at the Villages Amphitheater beginning at 7:30 p.m.

“It’s an honor to have Governor Perdue share this special memorial service with us,” said Mayor Ken Steele. “Those who have fought in combat and still fight for our freedom need to be recognized and we invite the community out to pay tribute to our troops and remember 9/11.”

In its third year, God & Country Night will feature diverse musical acts including East Fayette Elementary School’s fourth grade chorus, Edgefield Baptist Church, First United Methodist Church, Music Alive, New Hope Baptist Church, New Vision Church and Southern Nights Chorale.

“With this being the five year anniversary of 9/11, we want to make sure people haven’t forgotten,” said Nancy Price director Main Street. “God & Country Night is a great time to reflect upon all that has happened in our great country.”

The gates will open at 6:30 p.m. and regular and lawn seating will be available for this free concert. For further information about God & Country Night please call Main Street at 770-719-4173.
